About Yellow Ribbon Project

The Yellow Ribbon Project is a national campaign aimed at giving ex-offenders a second chance in life.

Every year, more than 9,000 ex-offenders complete their imprisonment. However, once released, many find themselves stepping into a second prison; a prison with invisible bars – suspicion, mistrust and discrimination. The stigma against ex-offenders can often be more punishing than the prison sentence itself.

The best rehabilitation regime is of little use if ex-offenders find themselves rejected at every turn when they are released into the larger community. Through the Yellow Ribbon Project, we hope to promote a more accepting society – one that is willing to give ex-offenders a second chance at making good.

CARE Network

The Yellow Ribbon Project is managed by the Community Action for the Rehabilitation of Ex-offenders (CARE) Network. It is an alliance of various Social Service Agencies (SSAs) and Government Organisations dedicated to community engagement, coordination of aftercare efforts and enhancing service delivery for ex-offenders and their families.

Yellow Ribbon Race 2022

I Race For Second Chances

This year sees the rebranding of the Yellow Ribbon Prison Run into our inaugural Yellow Ribbon Race (YRR) with the theme “I Race for Second Chances”!

Virtual race participants from all walks of life can show #YRCare by participating in the all-inclusive Yellow Ribbon Race – whether it is on foot, on wheels or on water, everyone and anyone can show your support for second chances to ex-offenders and their families!

For those looking for a bigger challenge, try our #YRCourageous! A middle-distance duathlon that challenges participants to push themselves beyond what they think they might be capable of, similar to how ex-offenders are pushing themselves to forge new positive stories in life.

Let us race with a purpose this year, let us Race for Second Chances! #YRRace2022 #iRaceforSecondChances
